Neal Overseas

This photo is why I like doing this and why I need to post more frequently. The caption on the back reads;
Tinian July 4, 1940 "Me and two buddies"

Maybe it was mentioned when I was growing up but I don't recall him ever mentioning that he was on this island. I always thought it was the Philippines or somewhere near Malaysia. Maybe this was just one of many stops though. He was on a boat after all.

    I remember Dad always talking about India...how disgustingly dirty it was, not just the country, the people too. He said he would never go back to visit even if someone paid him a million bucks..... Wendi

    Dad was stationed on Tinian when the Enola Gay took off to bomb Hiroshima, Japan. He once told me that, after the plane was safely en route, a loudspeaker announcement explained the damage that the first atomic bomb would do to the targeted city in Japan. Dad claims that everyone who heard the announcement reacted with sarcasm and disbelief that one bomb could do so much damage. Bill
